Watch: Huge party erupts outside White House after Joe Biden elected new President of U.S.

Thousands gathered in DC in front of the White House, along 16th Street NW and at BLM Plaza, to celebrate their joy at Joe Biden and Kamala Harris being elected to be the next President and Vice President of the USA. Cars and people poured out onto the Capital City’s streets — in every neighborhood, on a beautiful, warm sunny day — to honk horns, and cheer, and raise their hands in victory. The crowd at the White House danced and chanted, and with “colorful language” and in no uncertain terms, they let the Republican Party know what they thought of their leadership. The White House remained surrounded by high fencing to prevent celebrants from getting near the President. Reportedly, he was away golfing, again, when the news broke.

President Elect Biden’s Twitter account sent out a seemingly humble message that was focused on the tasks ahead. It was accompanied by a montage of diverse Americans with a rendition of “America the Beautiful.”

America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me.

Harris, despite being the first woman who will become Vice President of the nation, also put out a similar message; plus a short video of herself on the phone congratulating Joe Biden.

This election is about so much more than @JoeBiden or me. It’s about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Let’s get started. @JoeBiden and I are ready to get to work on behalf of the American people.
